World Cruise - Day 75 - Mar 27 - At Sea

We went to bed late last night due to getting back late, going to late dining, then the late show, then staying up to edit my 800+ pictures down to 80 or so for the blog entry.  So we got up later and this is the best I can do for a sunrise photo this morning, the sun was already up in the sky:
Yes, I know I didn’t follow the rule of thirds, but it was the only way I could frame it on the glassy water.  I’ll try to stop being a slacker tomorrow morning and get up at dawn (around 6:18a these days).
I have some photos from prior days that were not included in blog entries that I’ll include today.  First of all, our sailaway from Vietnam included a variety of small, colorful fishing boats:
I love how the guy on the top deck looks like he is posing for a picture, when he’s actually just looking at our ship in wonder:
These guys were tied up and looking over at us sailing by as well:
I love the color contrasts on this boat:
The small top deck area with three people makes this photo especially interesting:
I waved at the young man on the bow and then got a pic of him waving back:
And I also have some pics from Mary Norwood from yesterday in Laem Chabang to share.  This was at Nong Nooch as they were watering down the elephants, the trainer was watering himself down as well:
They had interesting topiary at Nong Nooch, making it look like the animals are running downhill:
…and then jumping the stream:
Mary caught this pic of two of the parrots at the small zoo there:
…and a pic of an orangutan, which I missed (I really like this photo, especially the way its eye pops):
And a photo of all of us at Sanctuary of Truth:
The entire Sanctuary of Truth was built without a single nail.  All of the wood is tongue-and-groove connections, no nails.
We had our Cruise Critic meeting this morning and we had seven different people submit photos for the photo competition.  I am narrowing the list down to the finalist photos and will announce the winners at the next meeting.
We got 26 out of 27 in trivia this morning, winning team got all 27.  The only question we missed:  What province is Melbourne a part of in Australia?  Victoria (we said New South Wales).
At trivia this afternoon, we got 13 out of 20, the winning team got 17.  Questions we missed:  What is typically associate with the 20th anniversary?  China (we said crystal).  Who said, “Eureka” when displacing water in his bath and solving the problem of weight displacement?  Archimedes (we said Pericles).  What serpent/lizard/dragon is said to kill with just the look of its eyes?  (can’t remember the answer other than it was from Harry Potter; we said komodo dragon).  What drink, named after the bartender who created it, is made with gin, lime, sugar and soda water?  Tom Collins (we said Harvey Wallbanger).  What alphabet is used in radio communication associating a word with each letter?  Phonetic (we said International Radio Code).  What species is a Bombay duck?  Fish (we said crustacean).  What muscle group holds together the rib cage?  Intercostal (we said pectoral).  Other tough questions:  What apes would you find on Rock of Gibraltar?  Barbary apes.  What novel by George Orwell has a character named Napoleon?  Animal Farm.  What does a.m. stand for?  Ante meridian.
We went to a birthday celebration for Rosemary Milgate at Pacific Lounge before dinner:
The entertainer tonight was juggler/comedian Thien Fu:
Tomorrow is sea day #2 of 2 on our way to Singapore on Thursday.

  1. The boats were really neat, and I loved the young man waving back. Seems like all the boats had the same design on the bow of the boat, like a fish eye or something.
Loved the orangutang pic, and Nancy has one of those parrots, the gray with the red tails. Can't remember the name of it though.
