World Cruise - Day 34 - Feb 15 - At Sea

There was no Zumba class this morning, so we were planning to sleep in.  But I got up just in time for the sunrise:
Susie, I remember that Grandma went to Fiji, although I didn’t remember it being while we were in Phoenix, I thought it was when we were in Red Bud?  I got a little carved wooden canoe from her from Fiji that I had on my knick knack shelf for many years.  There were some trinkets being sold on the beach, but we haven’t been buying things along the way, since we really don’t have a way to bring things home with us, so we’re keeping the trinkets to a minimum.
Pete and Kathy, nice to hear from you!  We loved Hawaii, we’re sure you will love it as well.  Have fun on your upcoming cruise.  Please say hello to Mike and Tamara from us!
They did Cantina Mexicana for lunch today in the Panorama.  Krissie still had her daily lunch salad.
Trivia was fun both morning and afternoon, we didn’t win either time, but we did come close (15 in the morning, 17 won; 16 in the afternoon, 17 won).  Some of the more interesting questions: How many arms is the Hindu god Vishnu typically depicted  as having?  4 (we put 6).  What alcoholic drink is added to fermenting wine to make port?  Brandy.  Lugarno and Locarno are located in what country?  Switzerland.  The three baskets is part of the literature of which religion?  Buddhism (we put Islam).  Who was the Greek goddess of victory?  Nike.  What is the French name for a ham & cheese sandwich?  Croque Monsieur.  Who is rapper Curtis Jackson?  50 Cent (we put Public Enemy I).  Zocalo is which city’s main square?  Mexico City.  Clotho, Lachsis and Atropos are what in Greek mythology  The Fates.  What land mass broke up to create the earth’s continents?  Pangaea.
We went to the Bistro for dinner tonight instead of the main dining room.  Bistro is how they setup Panorama Buffet on sea days for the evening meal.  On port days, dinner is served buffet style.  On sea days, they serve you at your table.
Susie, I will try to remember to take more pics of the vendors in each port, although the next few ports are in New Zealand and Australia, so the offerings will likely be less exotic than the previous ports.  Per your request, here are a couple of pics of the interior of the cabin:
You can see a couple of her pics on the mirror on the right and one over our bed on the left.  And chocolates on the bed (we just got back from the show).  Another one:
Notice two more pics on the other wall and her most recent acrylic on the bottom of the mirror on the left.
So I wasn’t sure if I would post this on the blog.  Earlier this afternoon, I left to attend the port talk about Bay of Islands, then went from there to afternoon trivia.  Before I left, I talked to Krissie out on the balcony, then closed the balcony door (since having the balcony door open when you go out of the room causes wind to blow through the room).  Anyway, when I closed the balcony door, I made the mistake of accidentally locking it.  Oops.  And it wasn’t until I left the room that Krissie went to open the balcony door.  Oops again.  So Krissie was stuck out on the balcony for two hours.  Oops, oops, oops.  She was really nice about it and didn’t make me feel too badly (although I was in the dog house for awhile).  Gotta remember, don’t lock the balcony door while wifey is out there…
Entertainer this evening was Bob Anderson, who performed the other evening and did another set of songs for us tonight.
Tomorrow is sea day #3 of 3 on our way to Bay of Islands, New Zealand on Friday.

  1. WOW, are YOU going to remember Day 34... locking your wifey on the balcony... for the rest of your life? Ummm... did REALLY do that on Valentine's Day, or even the day after? Krissie, I'm shivering, just THINKING about you out there! You get the Heoroine's Award for not giving him too hard of a time... yet :)

BTW: loved the cabin pictures! It's fun to know that you can use magnets to put pictures on the walls (do they supply the magnets?)

  2. Is there actual need to lock your balcony door anyway? Could neighbouring guests easily 'jump' across to your balcony & so gain access?
