World Cruise - Day 94 - Apr 15 - At Sea

Sunrise was similar to yesterday, late and cloud shrouded:
Julie, the pirate sonic blast is apparently directional, so when they did use it, most people on the ship were not even aware it was being used.  It was only those people that were in the back of the ship immediately below the device that heard anything and they said it was very limited.  I’m not sure I understand the acoustics behind it, but apparently they are able to direct the sound in such a way that only those in the direction of the sound can hear it (loudly).  Someone said they can increase it to actually burst the eardrums if they get closer, not sure if that’s just a rumor.  Regarding Atlantis, the same company developed both Bahamas and Dubai.  I was told that they have another one planned, although I haven’t heard where it will be located.  And Tab Hunter was popular before we were born (in the 1950s), so we wouldn’t have known about him except if you know either his #1 song (Young Love) or his movies.  I had not heard of him before the cruise and had to look him up.  But trust me, there are a lot of people on this cruise that know him.  He was a teen heartthrob for the ladies that are about 20 years older than us.
Patti, glad to hear you are enjoying the pics.  My hand up in the air on the camel was my attempt at riding the bucking bronco for the ride on the way down.  Or to balance me so that I didn’t fall off.  Or maybe both.  And yes, Krissie is still one of the most spontaneous girls I know.  She comes up with stuff on the spur of the moment, so I need to keep my camera ready to catch her in one of her random acts of goofiness.
Susie, I’m not planning to print any of the pics from the trip, although I will organize them into a photo album for viewing later.  Does anyone actually print out photos anymore?  We are looking forward to seeing you and Alan in Venice!
We had a final Captain’s party for the World Cruisers this morning at 10:30a.  I think they did that time thinking that there wouldn’t be as many people coming for the free drinks.  They were wrong.  Here is a pic of our friends Sergio, Noemi, Cindy and Curt:
Today is Sunday at sea, so that means Sunday Brunch.  I love the blue cheese (stilton) and whole wheat breads:
They usually have an ice sculpture or two:
And, of course, the desserts:
This will be our last Sunday Brunch, since next Sunday we will be in Safaga, Egypt (gateway to Luxor and Valley of the Kings) and the following Sunday we will be in Koper, Slovenia.  And then the following Sunday we will all be back home!
At dinner, we were entertained by spinner dolphins off the starboard side of the ship:
The sunset was interesting, but again the low lying clouds made it an early sunset before it hit the horizon:
The entertainment tonight was another performance from Zach Winningham, whom we saw a couple nights back:
Tomorrow is Salalah, Oman.  We are looking forward to shopping for some perfumes at the perfume capital of Arabia.

  1. Spinner dolphins? Is that a varitey of dolphin, or is that just because that's what they were doing, was spinning?
